She explained: ‘When you’ve lived with something for so long and then it becomes – in a way – it becomes less a part of your world and more a part of someone else’s, it’s totally nerve wracking.’

The actress has enjoyed a fruitful career that began with the critically acclaimed 2010 western drama film, True Grit.

The Coen brothers propelled Hailee into Hollywood as it earned her a BAFTA and Academy Award nomination for the role of Best Supporting Actress.

She went on to play the lead role in the coming of age comedy The Edge of Seventeen before taking on her most recent leading role as Emily Dickinson.

Marvel’s Hawkeye premiered in November before it concluded after six episodes in December, with Hailee’s character Kate, being skilled marksman Clint Barton’s, protégé.

Reflecting on her movie career, she added that critical reviews are not important to her: ‘I put so much of myself into what I do that I can only ever hope that it’s recognised.

‘From The Edge of Seventeen to Dickinson, I’ve had some incredible experiences with kids and young adults around the world who have come up to me and shared with me their experiences in life and how projects of mine have either helped them through [hard times] or were some source of release or light for them – those are the reviews I care about,’ she detailed.

Hailee went on to likened her role as superhero Kate Bishop to her previous role as Emily in Dickinson.

She explained: ‘They are both heroines in their own right, share a drive, wit and passion – and it made me grateful for having spent so much time with a character like Emily. But it’s two completely different worlds, so that’s always kind of jarring! Going from the 1850s to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been amazing and so fun.’

Despite her experience she adds that the she believes that she will always find the prospect of a new release nerve-wracking as she discussed her feelings.

Hailee said: ‘It’s definitely daunting. Just to be playing a character that is so loved in the comics, with a story people have been so eager to be seen brought to life… to be in this position is a great deal. I’m very excited to see how everyone reacts because I think it’s quite good myself!’

Looking towards the future Hailee is hopeful that she will be able to continue to do what she loves as she steps back to appreciate just how much she has achieved.

Aside for her very grounded ‘main goal’ of staying happy and healthy she details that she would love to venture down other avenues as she looks to take on production roles.
